Go Getter, Goal Setter

Here we are, another first week of the new year! Resolutions in full swing, “New year, new me” Instagram posts, and then there is those of us who 3 days into the new year, have already said, “I’ll start on Monday!”

Who’s with me!? Come on, don’t lie to yourself. You know you had a few last indulgences before hitting the Whole 30 meal plan or embark on a Dry January journey (bless all of you attempting this one—I could never)! It’s okay! I did it. Nick and I drove 11 hours from Dallas back to Atlanta on Saturday (January 2nd for reference) and 30 minutes from home, I called our favorite pizza place and ordered us an 18 inch pizza. Just for 2. (Reason 1 million I know I married the right person!) SO, basically you’re not alone!

Now, even though I took my sweet time and enjoyed a few more days of my favorite foods and bingeing Netflix shows (HELLO, DUKE OF HASTINGS from Bridgerton *swoons*) it doesn’t mean I forgot about my resolutions!

Uh huh, honey

I’ve never been very good at sticking to resolutions. I start strong then falter somewhere in March, okay, maybe February! But still. I try every year and I’ve even tried a few new tactics! The last few years I’ve tried choosing one word. That helped me be a little more intentional throughout the year, but I still struggled to stick with it. Last year I tried to write down what I was grateful for every day, which I still struggled with (surprise, surprise) but I had fun looking back at it on New Year’s Day! So, what can we do? I will accept any and all tricks on how to make your resolutions stick!

This year I’m trying a new one: goal setting! Not just saying “I want to get in shape!” or “I want to lose 10 pounds.” I am working on writing down my goals every day. Y’all know I am in the midst of a quarter life crisis, trying to figure out what my next career move is! So I’m going to try manifesting that shit into the universe! I mean, what do I have to lose?

I write down my daily goals, my long term goals, my fitness goals, my personal goals, and I still write down what I’m grateful for each day! Now, it’s only day 6 of the new year, and as I’ve already mentioned, I skipped the first 3 days, BUT I am proud to say that I have completed 3 days of this. Maybe it will stick? I sure hope so!

For real though, any tips on maintaining New Years resolutions? I’m all ears! Happy 2021, y’all! Let’s go get those goals!

  1. I got nothing on how to stick to New Year’s resolutions, but Bridgerton, ah, hello! So good. Love me some Duke.
In the way of manifesting tho, I am huge fan of writing things down too! When I write it down, I get all the feels, which puts me in a nice, confident spot.

I have a fancy journal from the badass author of Girl, Stop Apologizing. In this journal, she asks us to write down ten things we want to manifest, but we have to write them as if they have already happened. IT’s about getting us into that believing space.
When you believe it, you will see it. (I believe Dr. Wayne Dyer said that. He’s one of my faves!)
Anyway, nice, fun post. Me and my hubby, Neil, are trying to do “no juice January” (i.e., no alcohol). I’m blaming COVID for having us imbibe a bit more than usual, so we figured we’d give it a whirl.

Today’s anarchy however makes me very thirsty and want to skip that whole thing…lol, but also, seriously!?!?
